Kathy Spencer Erickson
Ever focused on numbers, Kathy Spencer Erickson lives a life of multiples: two last names, several degrees and she wears a plethora of hats in the educational community. Yes, she's a true brainiac who has an undergraduate degree in engineering from Cornell University and a master's degree in education from UMass, Amherst. For seven years, she schooled teens in the universal language of numbers at Concord-Carlisle High School in Concord, Mass., before returning to her alma mater, Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, Mass. At that same institution, her dad is a big-time social studies teacher with emeritus status. Forever the Red Sox fan, when she's not trying to catch homeruns with the Green Monster, Erickson is involved with Discrete mathematics initiatives at Boston College and Graph Theory and Biomathematics programs at Rutgers University. She even finds the time to plan and speak at a variety of local and regional conferences, and is looking forward to her third year of involvement in the WAUMED (We All Use Math Every Day) program.
